To close out Bails’ Tech Best Practices week, we’ll take a look at best practices for Naming Conventions!
While the very best practice is to use the Infor system in its most Vanilla or out of the box state, businesses and business processes are unique! Therefore, most implementations will include at least a few custom processes, business classes, security roles, or configurations. When we do have these customizations, what is the best practice for naming conventions? The easiest  Read more...answer is to include at least business initials in the processes, business classes, security roles, or configurations! For example, if Bails, LLC had a configured EmployeeExport process, we would name it either 'BLLC_EmployeeExport' or 'EmployeeExport_BLLC'. Going even further, which of these two options would be the best? It is a preference, but these do have different effects. For example, the prefix 'BLLC_ makes it easy to keep all of your configurations close together in lists/menus as they will be alphabetically sorted together. On the other hand, the suffix '_BLLC' will keep the configurations close to their out of the box originals.
