  • How RPI’s ECM Managed Services Saves You Money
As we discussed last week, one option for filling gaps in your organization’s technical department is to purchase a managed services offering, whether for Perceptive Content or any other ECM, ERP, or enterprise software solution. It can be overwhelming and expensive for an internal team to manage and optimize these complicated solutions, or even to handle upgrades, while also taking care of other important work duties. In a nutshell, you import your historical data, the system runs the conversion process, and then you can manually fix any errors that may have come up. When you are correcting these, we recommend using an ISD download and upload if you want to change anything, unless you miss a pay code name. In that situation, you want to rename it instead of purging everything again and ...

I have covered a lot of ground when it comes to the conversation around innovation and the evolution of healthcare. If there is anything that you take away from this series, it is that strategy cannot be an afterthought – it must come first. The only way your strategy can be effective is if it is independent from the software and not based on any tools. To be clear, software vendors are usually not the best when it comes to delineating a clear plan that solves an organization’s specific prob...

If you have a parameter to extract eight months of historical data from 2021, this RPI tool will take it from S3 and build one CSV file per month, which you can then load that to GHR. It's a sizing control as well, meaning that you want to limit the number of records you want to move to the Cloud. You don’t want to overload the system, so be sure to test those files to make sure all your components are there. That process generate...

Much like issue management, scope management has to be identified and resolved at the right levels.

Hiding it is a good strategy because everyone will work towards the same completion schedule. There's two ways to do contingency planning: one is to add additional time in each of the project steps within a given phase, while the other is to give two or three weeks of time at the end of the project or phase (called a “contingency”).

So, what does a payroll implementation look like? It’s important to know up front that timelines can vary from 10 to 15 months or so, depending on the size and complexity. However, there are steps you can take ahead of time to mitigate this hurdle. For example, if you do GHR and if you do your finance implementations prior to payroll, then that transformation has probably already occurred. If you make sure to know what your new pay codes and accounting codes will look like, that will also make...

  • Migrating Existing Flows into Infor CloudSuite
A large amount of our customers have been on Lawson for many years, which is another big factor in these pre-planning engagements and projects in general. This familiarity means they've developed very sophisticated flows, integrations, and extensions, so they're concerned about how those are going to migrate forward into CloudSuite. Today we’re going to explain what that effort and future state might look for a client in this situation. This part is actually a big component in t...

  • What's data got to do with it: Part II - Historical & Transactional Data
Master data seems pretty straightforward, so let's talk a bit about transactional data. At the point of go-live, CloudSuite becomes the system of record on our operational system, which means we need to bring over any open transactions that are required for business continuity. We also need to think about procurement transactions and any open purchase orders that might not have been received or invoiced yet. This is data that we tend to want to minimize because of its complications. Because ...

The conversion scope and strategy that we decide on during pre-planning has a pretty big impact on the structure of the overall transition project, as does the work effort and direct cost for this implementation. Let's discuss how and what we focus on during this important phase in the pre-planning project, as well as what it means for your overall implementation. There are three different kinds of data that we can talk about in terms of conversion: master data, transactional data, and hi...

  • The Project Scope & Approach for an RPI Pre-Planning Event
Today we’re going to discuss the project scoping and approach. We begin with some as-is discovery where we're really focused on understanding how this organization has made use of Lawson, or potentially other third-party systems whose functionality will impact the move to CloudSuite. This action is always taken with an eye on practical scoping, so it's not a full-blown optimization assessment. We're really honing in on those details that are pertinent to the work effort and pla...

  • Preparing for an RPI Pre-Planning Event
A question we often get from clients who are looking to implement CloudSuite is what should an organization do to prepare for an RPI pre-planning event? While I think it’s the same as planning for an engagement, there are basically two things to consider. The first is that the better you both understand and document your current processes and pain points, the better you can articulate them to a consultant. This way we already know what you’re looking to achieve from the beginning ins...

One of my favorite analogies to illustrate the complexity of planning for an analytics implementation is to compare it with setting off to climb Mt. Everest. The objective is clear, you want to climb to the top of the mountain. But that’s the easy part—how are you going to make that happen? Would you attempt this expedition on your own? Probably not. Why? Because the risks are too high; maybe even fatal. You know you’re not the first one who’s set out to achieve this ...

The Power Training will cover Landmark Security, Process Automation, Technology Foundation, and Infor Security Services. These are some of the most requested training classes and they’re going to be led by some of Infor’s leading instructors. If you’ve had your eye on any of the courses, I can’t recommend strongly enough taking advantage of this opportunity. You get the entire course content condensed into two days which is really going to maximize the time you spend. The training will take place in Infor’s Educational Floor in their St. Paul headquarters which was just renovated and re-opened a couple of years ago, so the facilities are nice, new, and comfortable. I highly encourage you to check it out, especially since time is running short to sign up!

What diversity and what a time in the city that never sleeps. I attended Infor’s Inaugural HCM Partner Summit where they updated us on the latest products, strategy, and marketing in and around the entire HCM Suite. It was great to get a status update on the global payroll strategy and v11 Landmark Payroll: anyone interested in being a v11 Payroll Beta? We also got to hear the executive commitment around HCM product development, strategy, and where Infor is headed from Charles Phillips, Stephan Scholl, and Soma Somasundaram, who joined the Summit.
