Data conversion is always a critical task in any Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation project. It impacts the project’s timeline, go-live readiness and overall success.

The M3 conversion tool is both flexible and open to customizations, making it particularly amenable to various methods of integrating external data. Still, organizations frequently opt for relying on M3’s APIs and web services, with the added assurance of M3 data integrity and native data validation, when converting their data.

The Velocity conversion tool provides unique and flexible proficiencies to ease process and enabling teams to meet important timelines and milestones with these 7 specializations.

Flexible data mapping capabilities. Velocity’s data conversion tool reduces requirements in data quality from 3rd party, or legacy system(s), by allowing no M3 data elements. The data mapping is entirely user driven in Excel spreadsheet format. This simplifies the data conversion input file structure by providing the ability to assign default values.

Automation. The data conversion tool can be configured for running in silent mode, or scheduled to execute at your convenience.

Logging capability. The tool provides multiple levels of logs and an output Excel spreadsheet with error message for each row of data.

Low system requirement. It requires only Java runtime and Microsoft Excel. When a suitable M3 API is not available, M3 web services can be created based on interactive entry screens, SQL statements or stored procedures.

Versatile utility. The conversion tool can also be useful for M3 database maintenance and fixes while providing data safety, integrity and traceability. It can be used as a way of interfacing external data with M3 on a regular basis. Additionally, it’s easy to learn and master without any programming skill required.

Greatly simplify financial data import. For example, the conversion tool leverages a M3 API, GLS840MI and is able to manage the user defined input file layout. In addition, we can handle complex M3 API such as Kit creation, customer orders and purchase orders. It eliminates the usual needs of custom programming or tedious manual manipulation and offers flexibility to load data in a flat file format.

Import multiple data entities simultaneously. The tool allows multiple M3 API transactions to be used against each record of external data. This can greatly reduce the number of steps for data import to M3. For example, item related data can be grouped in a single spreadsheet or flat file. Many customers prefer to import customer orders to save manual input. The import can be completed in one or two steps, with validation, review and fixes, before being processed as firm orders.
